The classic “pie in the face” is proven to be a funny act (for its time). Through pop culture and time, the “pie in the face” prank has actually evolutionized into something different. Ever watch the move Jackass? Jackass is far more extreme (and often times, disgusting) version of the “pie in the face” joke.

Now, I’m not saying that you should take a pie and throw it at her face — because that probably won’t work. However, just know that you can identify other trends in humour that the majority of people find funny.

One of the easiest ways to make people laugh is the “self deprecating” kind of humour. Pick on yourself a little — you’ll notice a lot of other comedians like Adam Sandler and Louis CK do the same thing. Talk about something you do really badly. And talk about how it led to some very unfortunate circumstances.

Picking up girls isn’t about bragging and showing yourself off in a positive light, sometimes saying like: “I am so bad at painting, I’m pretty sure that 4-year-old over there could school me.”

And always have a punch line in the back of your head.

However, there are a few things to be careful about. Remember, you don’t want to overdo the humour too much.

First of all, you want people to take you seriously. If you’re constantly trying to make jokes, it might get a little annoying. If a good opportunity comes up to make a joke, then make it, but do not go out of your way to constantly make light of the situation.

Secondly, it’s really easy to fall into the dreaded friend zone. Make sure that your jokes exude sexual value as well — that means making sexual innuendos every now and then. And that also means making fun of her every now and then!
