5 Most Romantic Cities In The World
There’s a select few cities that somehow feel “right” for romance.
5. Buenos Aires, Argentina
You can almost taste the passion that oozes throughout the tree-lined streets and open-air promenades of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The city offers a perfect blend of European elegance and Latin excitement, making it a truly romantic place throughout the year. There’s also some fantastic old-world architecture — plus it’s one of the best places in the world for a Tango dance.
4. Quebec City, Canada
Quebec City, the capital of the French-Canadian province, offers a spectacularly romantic experience, especially during the winter. Along with its breathtaking architecture and fascinating history, Quebec city also has a certain charm that most other North American cities lack. For one of the most romantic experiences anywhere in the world, try a horse-drawn carriage tour around the old town on a snowy winter evening.
3. Lisbon, Portugal
Lisbon offers a little bit of everything: a rich cultural and architectural history that can be felt throughout it’s cobblestone streets, breathtaking ocean views from much of the city’s hilltop setting, and Latin passion that rivals any other city in the world. While it may not be one of Europe’s most-visited cities, every couple will be able to find a special moment in Lisbon.
2. Venice, Italy
Venice being near the top of this list won’t surprise anyone who has had the pleasure of touring this incredible city. The most romantic thing, of course, is an evening canal boat ride under the stars. But romance is everywhere in this incredibly unique city. Where else can you find a thousand years of history, spectacular food and wine, in a pedestrian-only architectural marvel of a city?
1. Paris, France
No surprise here, really, and, in my mind, Paris is easily the most romantic city in the world. Even without it’s magical romantic appeal, Paris is still a strong contender for the world’s greatest city. But when you add in the Eiffel Tower at night, spectacular and secluded-feeling parks or gardens on every block, 2000+ years of history and culture, and some of the finest food and wine in the world, Paris is a clear choice for the most romantic city on the planet.
Honourable mentions: Prague (Czech Rep.), Marrakech (Morocco), New York City (USA), Barcelona (Spain), Florence (Italy), Kyoto (Japan), Amsterdam (Netherlands)
